Several BRS Leaders Placed Under House Arrest Amid Tensions in Hyderabad

Hyderabad – On Friday, numerous leaders from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) found themselves under house arrest as tensions escalated following reports of a planned rally at the residence of PAC Chairman Arekapudi Gandhi. Among those confined was prominent BRS MLA and former minister T. Harish Rao, who was restricted to his home in Kokapet. Notably, Rao was refused permission by the police to seek medical attention after sustaining injuries during a confrontation between party leaders and police officials at the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate the previous day.

Former minister Sunitha Laxma Reddy and ex-MP Malothu Kavitha were also blocked from entering Rao’s residence. Their attempts to access the premises led to a protest outside the house, which ultimately resulted in their detention by police authorities.

In addition to Harish Rao, several other former ministers, including Jogu Ramanna, Puvvada Ajay Kumar, and Malla Reddy, were also placed under house arrest.

Further restrictions were imposed on former ministers Sabita Indra Reddy, confined to her home in Srinagar Colony, and Talasani Srinivas Yadav, who was held at his residence in West Marredpally. The heightened security measures extended to Kukatpally MLA Madhavaram Krishna Rao, Qutbullapur MLA Vivekananda, and MLC Shambhirpur Raju, who were similarly placed under house arrest.

Tensions remained high as police forces were heavily deployed around key areas, particularly near the residence of MLC Shambhirpur Raju, where BRS leaders had initially intended to march towards Arekapudi Gandhi’s house.
