A case of repeated sexual assault on a minor has come to light, raising concerns about the safety of youth in educational institutions.

Pune: In a disturbing incident, a 16-year-old girl studying at a college in Pune was repeatedly sexually assaulted by four individuals, including two minors. The police have arrested two adults, aged 20 and 22, and taken two minors into custody in connection with the case. All four accused had befriended the girl on social media but had never met her in person. The assaults took place at various locations in the city between April and September.

The incident came to light during a college session focused on sexual crimes against children. During the discussion, a student appeared distressed and later revealed that her 16-year-old friend was a victim of sexual assault. Further investigation revealed that the girl had been assaulted by four individuals she had met on social media. The student also mentioned that a video of the girl was made during the assaults.

Responding to the case, the police stated, “We have registered a case against four accused. Two of them are minors and have been taken into custody. The other two adults have been arrested. The investigation is ongoing.” The accused have been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.

This incident highlights the vulnerability of young individuals to online predators and the importance of educating students about the risks associated with social media interactions. It also underscores the need for robust measures to ensure the safety and well-being of students in educational institutions.
