Tensions in Ghaziabad have escalated following an objectionable remark made about Prophet Muhammad. The situation remains tense, particularly after the stone-pelting incident at the Dasna Temple. In response, Hindu groups have announced a Mahapanchayat on October 13, despite police warnings and the imposition of Section 163.
The controversy centers around Yati Narsinghanand, whose inflammatory comments have sparked protests from the Muslim community demanding his arrest. Meanwhile, Hindu organizations are claiming an attack on Dasna Devi Temple and are mobilizing supporters to protect the temple, with plans for a large-scale Mahapanchayat to discuss security measures. The slogan “Chalo Dasna” has been circulating on social media, encouraging Hindus from all communities to gather for the Mahapanchayat.
However, the Ghaziabad police have made it clear that no permission has been granted for the Mahapanchayat. With Section 163 BNS in effect, gatherings of more than five people are prohibited across the district. Any such unauthorized assembly is against the law, and police are prepared to enforce these restrictions.
The controversy has led to multiple protests. On Monday, a group of around 100 people from Delhi, led by the World Peace Harmony Organization, protested at the UP Gate. They were prevented from marching to the District Magistrate’s office and dispersed after submitting a memorandum.
Regarding the attack on the Dasna Temple, police have made arrests. Two individuals, Riaz and Rizwan, were sent to jail for their involvement in stone-pelting. So far, 16 cases have been registered across various police stations, with 23 individuals arrested in connection to the incidents. The police are maintaining a strong presence in the area to prevent further violence.
