The Election Commission has announced the dates for by-elections on four assembly seats in Punjab. Voting will take place on 13th November, with results to be declared on 23rd November. The four constituencies—Barnala, Dera Baba Nanak, Chabbewal, and Gidderbaha—are going for by-elections because the sitting MLAs were elected to Parliament during the recent Lok Sabha elections, leaving these seats vacant.

Which Seats Are Vacant?

  • Barnala: Represented by Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer (AAP), now MP from Sangrur.
  • Gidderbaha: Represented by Amarinder Singh Raja Warring (Congress), now MP from Ludhiana.

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) recently held a core committee meeting, while Congress has outlined its strategy. The BJP is also gearing up for the elections. The ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has already carried out development works in the respective constituencies, and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann has toured all four constituencies.
