ED Seizes Land Worth ₹78 Crore Owned by Gautam Thapar

In connection with an alleged bank fraud case involving ₹466 crore at Yes Bank, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has seized land worth over ₹78 crore owned by businessman Gautam Thapar. The ED has filed a money laundering case against Thapar and his affiliated companies.

On Saturday, the ED announced that land measuring 52.11 acres in Gurugram, Haryana, has been temporarily seized. The land is linked to a company named Auster Buildwell Private Limited (OBPL), owned by Gautam Thapar. The case is based on an FIR filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) that names Thapar, OBPL, and his other company, Avanta Realty Limited.

The allegations are that between 2017 and 2019, Thapar and his companies committed fraud and misappropriation of public funds, causing a loss of ₹466.51 crore to Yes Bank. The investigation claims that Yes Bank retained ₹14.11 crore as processing fees, while the remaining ₹500.11 crore was transferred by OBPL to its affiliate companies under the guise of fake operations and maintenance agreements.

The ED had previously filed a chargesheet against Thapar, former Yes Bank promoter Rana Kapoor, and 16 others in a special PMLA court in Delhi. Gautam Thapar has been arrested in this case.
