Gurugram, Haryana: A 40-year-old man, identified as Anil Pahal, has been arrested for allegedly raping and strangling a 23-year-old masseuse to death at a guesthouse near Jharsa village, police said on Sunday.
The victim, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, had been called to the guesthouse by Pahal on the evening of September 7. According to police, the incident occurred after a dispute over payment. Pahal had initially booked the masseuse’s services online for Rs 5,000 but was reportedly asked for an additional Rs 2,500, which led to an argument.
The police were alerted late Saturday night about a woman’s body found in a guesthouse room. Pahal, who claimed to work as a customs broker in Delhi, said he had booked the guesthouse for two days starting September 6.
He has been charged with rape and murder. The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to gather evidence.
