Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited Mumbai on Monday, meeting with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar at the airport. While details of their discussion remain undisclosed, sources suggest Shah promised a “respectful” seat-sharing arrangement for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections.
Shah, who was in Mumbai for a two-day visit, also attended various Ganesh pandals, including the Lalbaugcha Raja, accompanied by local leaders such as Shinde and BJP’s Devendra Fadnavis. His visit included prayers at Ganesh idols at Fadnavis’s residence and Shinde’s official residence, signaling his engagement with local cultural and political activities.
NCP chief Sharad Pawar also visited the Lalbaugcha Raja pandal, which BJP MLC Pravin Darekar criticized as politically motivated. The Ganesh festival, celebrated widely in Mumbai, has seen increased political activity as the state prepares for elections.
