Telangana on High Alert: Heavy Rains to Worsen Flood Situation

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for several districts in Telangana, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall in the next 48 hours. The alert comes as the state is already reeling from floods, with 29 out of 33 districts declared flood-hit.
The districts most likely to be affected are Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Adilabad, Nirmal, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, and Khammam. Residents in low-lying areas, especially in Khammam, have been shifted to relief camps as water levels in the Munneru river continue to rise.
The heavy rainfall is expected to exacerbate the existing flood situation, which has already claimed 31 lives as of Saturday. The state government is on high alert, with Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari closely monitoring the situation.
