70 KG Cement Blocks Placed on Railway Tracks in Ajmer to Derail Train

An FIR has been filed at the Mangaliyawas Police Station in Ajmer against an unidentified individual under sections of the Railway Act and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act. This follows an attempt to derail a fully loaded goods train by placing cement blocks on the tracks in Rajasthan’s Ajmer district.

On September 8, 2024, two cement blocks, each weighing around 70 kg, were placed on the tracks of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor. The goods train, which collided with the blocks, managed to continue its journey without incident. Authorities are investigating the matter further.

This attempt comes just a day after a similar incident in Kanpur, where an LPG cylinder was placed on railway tracks, creating a potential derailment hazard for the Bhiwani-Prayagraj Kalindi Express.

Railway officials and local authorities are working to identify the perpetrators and prevent future occurrences.
