Suspected Mpox Case in Man Who Recently Traveled to India; Samples Under Analysis

A man who recently returned from India is currently under suspicion for contracting the monkeypox virus (Mpox), according to a statement from the health ministry.

The ministry reported that the individual has been isolated and admitted to a hospital, where he is in stable condition. Samples from the patient are being analyzed to determine if he has the Mpox virus. The man had traveled from a country where Mpox is currently spreading.

The case is being handled following established health protocols, with ongoing contact tracing to identify potential sources and assess any possible impact within the country. The ministry reassured the public that there is no need for undue concern, as this situation aligns with the previously conducted risk assessments by the National Centre for Disease Control.

The country is well-equipped to manage and respond to isolated cases of this nature, with comprehensive measures in place to address and mitigate potential risks.

On August 14, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the recent Mpox outbreak a public health emergency of international concern, following the identification of a new variant of the virus.
