In Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, a serious attempt to derail the Naini Doon Express was thwarted when a seven-meter-long iron pole was placed on the railway tracks. The alertness of the locomotive pilot allowed the train to be stopped in time using emergency brakes, preventing a potential disaster.
The incident occurred around 11 PM on Wednesday as the train was traveling between Kathgodam and Dehradun. Upon receiving the report, the Government Railway Police (GRP) and local police quickly arrived at the scene to remove the pole, which caused the train to halt for approximately 20 minutes.
Rampur Superintendent of Police Vidya Sagar Mishra confirmed that the pole has been removed and an investigation is ongoing. The GRP has detained three suspects for questioning. Local residents indicated that some youths from nearby settlements have been known to use drugs, and there have been reports of thefts in the area, raising suspicions about their involvement in this incident.
Additionally, the PRO of the Izzatnagar Division of the railways, Rajendra Singh, stated that the Naini Doon Express was on its way from Dehradun to Kathgodam when the iron pole was discovered on the tracks.
