The Delhi BJP filed three police complaints against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday, accusing him of making “divisive and provocative comments” during his recent visit to the United States. The complaints focus on Gandhi’s remarks regarding the condition of Sikhs in India and his statement suggesting the end of reservations, both of which have sparked controversy.
The Delhi BJP president, Virendra Sachdeva, stated that Gandhi’s comments have hurt the religious sentiments of the Sikh community and angered the Scheduled Castes (SCs) with his suggestion to eliminate reservations. The complaints were lodged by the Sikh cell, SC Morcha, and ST Morcha of the Delhi BJP at various police stations.
This development comes a day after the Congress filed its own complaint at Tughlaq Road police station, accusing leaders from the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) of making statements that jeopardize Gandhi’s safety and threaten to disturb peace ahead of upcoming Assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana.
