BJP’s Subramanian Swamy Predicts Jail Term for Gandhis in National Herald Case

BJP veteran and former Union Minister Subramanian Swamy has reaffirmed his confidence that Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi will face imprisonment in the ongoing National Herald case.
Swamy, who initiated the case against the Gandhis, alleged that they misutilized party funds to acquire Associated Journals Ltd., the publisher of the defunct National Herald newspaper.
Addressing a gathering of law students, Swamy stated, “The Gandhis are currently out on bail, but the evidence against them is substantial. My criticisms of Rahul Gandhi have never resulted in my incarceration, and I’m confident that justice will prevail.”
When questioned about the opposition’s potential prime ministerial candidate for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Swamy downplayed Nitish Kumar’s prospects, saying, “While Nitish is an old friend, he has never expressed interest in the top post.”
On the issue of India’s growing population, Swamy dismissed the need for a population control act, instead emphasizing the importance of rapid economic growth. “Achieving 10% annual economic growth is key to stabilizing population growth,” he asserted.
Responding to queries about pro-Atiq Ahmad slogans in Patna, Swamy acknowledged India’s democratic freedoms but warned that sympathizers of the slain gangster risk harming their own reputation.
Swamy’s statements come as the National Herald case continues to garner attention ahead of the 2024 elections.
