Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has refuted media and social media reports alleging Chinese incursions in Arunachal Pradesh. Reports had suggested that the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) entered Indian territory in Anjaw district, setting up camp and leaving behind signs such as painted rocks and Chinese food materials.
Rijiju clarified that such markings in undemarcated areas do not constitute encroachment. He emphasized that while there may be occasional overlaps in patrolling, China is not allowed to establish any permanent structures, and India maintains strict vigilance over these areas.
He reiterated India’s commitment to enhancing border infrastructure while ensuring the integrity of the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Relations between India and China have been strained since the border clashes in April-May 2020, with numerous rounds of diplomatic and military talks aimed at de-escalating tensions.
