Hundreds of individuals from the Muslim community gathered near a local mosque in Shahjahanpur, led by city Imam Huzoor Ahmad Manjari, to voice their outrage against recent offensive remarks made about the Prophet Muhammad. The demonstrators expressed their demands through a memorandum presented to local authorities, urging them to take decisive action against the individual responsible for the derogatory statements.
As news of the gathering spread, police forces were deployed to maintain order. Protesters claimed that such inflammatory remarks are being supported by the government, which they believe emboldens the perpetrators. They highlighted that a video of the offensive comments is circulating on social media, fueling anger among the Muslim community and peace-loving citizens. They view these statements as deliberate attempts to incite unrest.
The Imam made it clear that any disrespectful comments aimed at the Prophet Muhammad would not be tolerated and that no religion should be targeted. He called for strict legal measures against the person responsible for the remarks and emphasized the importance of respecting the religious sentiments of Muslims.
Additionally, the protesters demanded enhanced protection for minority worship places, including mosques, shrines, madrasas, and cemeteries. They stressed that the law should apply equally to all religions and insisted on harsh penalties for those making offensive comments against religious leaders.
