Dallas, Texas: Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, delivered a sharp critique of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during a speech to the Indian diaspora in Dallas, Texas, on Monday. Gandhi argued that the fear once associated with the BJP and Modi has significantly diminished following the recent Lok Sabha election results.
In his address, Gandhi highlighted that in his first speech in Parliament after the elections, he invoked the concept of Abhayamudra, a symbol of fearlessness revered across various Indian religions. He suggested that this symbol was beyond the BJP’s comprehension and tolerance.
“The other thing that happened was that the fear of the BJP vanished,” Gandhi stated. “We saw that immediately, within minutes of the election result, nobody in India was scared of the BJP or the Prime Minister of India. So these are huge achievements, not of Rahul Gandhi or the Congress party. We are peripheral. These are huge achievements of the people of India who realized democracy.”
Gandhi’s comments underscore a broader sentiment of empowerment and democratic realization he believes has emerged among the Indian populace, marking a shift in the political landscape away from the BJP’s dominance.
