Sitaram Yechury’s Family Donates Body to AIIMS for Educational and Research Purposes

Srinagar, Sep 13 – The family of the late Sitaram Yechury has made a significant contribution by donating his body to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. The donation, announced today, is intended for educational and research purposes.

Yechury, who served as the General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and was a Member of Parliament from 2005 to 2017, passed away on September 12, 2024. He was 72 years old.

According to an official statement from AIIMS New Delhi, Yechury was admitted to the institute on August 19, 2024, for treatment of pneumonia and died on the afternoon of September 12. The donation of his body is a gesture of enduring commitment to medical education and research.

The Media Cell at AIIMS expressed gratitude for the donation, which will support teaching and research activities at the institute. This generous act is expected to benefit future medical professionals and contribute to advancements in medical science.
