On Friday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) celebrated the Supreme Court’s decision to grant bail to Delhi Chief Minister and party leader Arvind Kejriwal, who was implicated in a corruption case related to the excise policy scandal. The party hailed the ruling as a “triumph of truth.”
The Supreme Court, through a two-judge bench consisting of Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan, set bail at Rs 10 lakh along with two sureties, paving the way for Kejriwal’s imminent release from custody.
Following the verdict, Sunita Kejriwal, the Chief Minister’s wife, expressed gratitude to AAP supporters and expressed hope for the release of other detained party members.
The Supreme Court instructed Kejriwal to refrain from making public statements concerning the details of the case.
In a social media post, Sunita Kejriwal congratulated the AAP community and wished for the swift release of other detained leaders, stating, “Congratulations to the AAP family! Kudos for your resilience. We also hope for the earliest release of our other leaders.”
Delhi’s former Deputy Chief Minister, Manish Sisodia, remarked that “truth has prevailed over deceit and conspiracy.” He paid tribute to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, noting his role in empowering the common man against future tyranny.
Delhi Minister Aatishi also welcomed Kejriwal’s bail, asserting that “truth may be challenged but never defeated.”
AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh commented that “Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s oppressive regime failed to break Arvind Kejriwal’s spirit.” He emphasized that “dictatorship has no place in a democracy. It is not effective. Those who fight for justice are needed. Modi’s oppressive rule could not shatter Arvind Kejriwal’s resolve. The prison doors have been opened, and Arvind Kejriwal is free. The web of falsehoods spun by the ED, CBI, and BJP is unraveling. Truth prevails!”
