Terrorists Abduct Two Soldiers in J&K’s Anantnag, One Escapes, Other Found Dead

Terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district abducted two soldiers from the Territorial Army’s 161 Unit during a joint anti-terror operation by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police. While one soldier managed to escape, the other was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds.

The deceased soldier, identified as Hilal Ahmed, was found in a forest area of Anantnag. According to police sources, his body bore several bullet marks, confirming he had been shot multiple times. There were no signs of knife wounds on his body.

Initially, reports emerged that two soldiers had been kidnapped from a forest region in Anantnag. Despite being shot, one soldier miraculously escaped the terrorists and is now under medical care. His condition is reported to be stable.

The joint operation to track down the terrorists was launched on October 8, following intelligence inputs. The Indian Army’s Srinagar-based Chinar Corps confirmed that the operation, conducted with the support of Jammu and Kashmir Police, was aimed at countering terrorist activities in the area.

Authorities had already been conducting a massive search operation to locate the missing soldiers. This incident follows another in August, where two soldiers were killed and three were injured during a terrorist encounter in the same Anantnag district.

This recent act of violence has intensified efforts by the security forces to root out terrorist threats in the region, as operations continue in the area to prevent further attacks.
