Efforts are underway to identify the militants and determine their affiliations with any particular group. The operation is ongoing.
Meanwhile, in Rajouri, a soldier was injured on Saturday during an encounter with militants attempting to infiltrate from across the Line of Control (LoC). The clash occurred in the Kalal area of the Nowshera sector when army personnel, who were guarding the LoC, intercepted a group of militants attempting to cross over. Following recent encounters between security forces and militants in Jammu and Kashmir, counter-terrorism operations have been intensified in the districts of Kishtwar, Udhampur, Poonch, and Rajouri. On September 11, two militants affiliated with the Jaish-e-Mohammed organization were killed in an encounter in the upper regions of Basantgarh in Udhampur district. Additionally, in Kishtwar, two soldiers, including a junior commissioned officer, were martyred, and two others were injured in an encounter with militants in the upper areas, leading to an extensive search operation. The operation in the forests of Pingnal Dugadda in the Chhatru Patti area is ongoing, with additional forces deployed to assist in locating the militants responsible for the attack. The area has been cordoned off, and security forces are using drones and other modern equipment to track down the militants, who had taken advantage of the darkness and dense forest to evade capture.
