One Nation, One Election Proposal Approved by Cabinet
The central cabinet has approved the proposal to conduct Lok Sabha and state assembly elections simultaneously. This proposal will be presented in the upcoming winter session of Parliament. Initially, assembly and Lok Sabha elections will be held together, followed by municipal elections within 100 days. The concept of ‘One Nation, One Election’ aims to streamline elections by having them occur simultaneously nationwide. This system was in place from 1952 to 1967 but was disrupted due to mid-term elections and dissolutions.
Chandrayaan-4 Mission Approved; Venus Mission and Indian Space Station to Launch by 2028
The Cabinet has approved the Chandrayaan-4 mission, which aims to land on the Moon and return with samples. Additionally, approval was granted for the Venus Orbiter Mission and the establishment of an Indian Space Station (BAS). These missions are planned for launch by 2028, with Chandrayaan-4 costing ₹2104 crore, the Venus Orbiter costing ₹1236 crore, and the BAS-1 unit being part of the Gaganyaan program.
J&K Elections: 58.85% Voting in First Phase; Highest in Kishtwar
In the first phase of Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, 58.85% voter turnout was recorded across 24 constituencies. Kishtwar saw the highest turnout at 77.23%, while Pulwama had the lowest at 46.03%. Voting is scheduled for September 25 and October 1 for remaining phases.
NPS Vatsalya Scheme Launched for Children
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has launched the NPS Vatsalya scheme for children under 18. This scheme aims to ensure financial security as children grow. Contributions can be made by parents and will convert into a regular NPS account upon reaching adulthood.
