Cyclone Dana Makes Landfall in Odisha, 300 Flights and 552 Trains Canceled
The cyclonic storm “Dana” originating from the Bay of Bengal made landfall on Odisha’s coast late last night with wind speeds around 120 km/h. As a precaution, one million people from 14 districts in Odisha and 350,000 people in West Bengal were evacuated to safe areas. Due to the storm, Kolkata and Bhubaneswar airports were temporarily closed, and over 300 flights and 552 trains were canceled.
The name “Dana,” meaning “generosity,” was given by Saudi Arabia. According to meteorologists, any storm with wind speeds over 62 km/h is named, and when it surpasses 137 km/h, it’s classified as a cyclone.
Terrorist Attack on Army Vehicle in Jammu and Kashmir, 2 Soldiers Martyred
A terrorist attack on an army vehicle near the Line of Control (LOC) in Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir, led to the martyrdom of two soldiers and injured another. Two porters carrying supplies were also killed in the attack. It is suspected that over three terrorists were involved, who opened fire as the vehicle headed towards the Nagin checkpoint in the Afarwat range.
Army sources report that the attack occurred 6 km from the tourist spot Gulmarg, in the Bota Pathri area. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has directed the forces to respond firmly to the terrorists.
Congress to Skip UP By-elections, SP Declares Candidates for All 9 Seats
Congress has decided not to participate in the UP assembly by-elections, choosing instead to support the Samajwadi Party (SP). This decision followed talks between Rahul Gandhi and Akhilesh Yadav. SP has announced candidates for all nine seats. Voting will occur on November 13, with results to be declared on November 23.
In Haryana, due to disagreements over seat allocation, SP also refrained from contesting. According to sources, Congress is now focusing on the upcoming elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand.

The BRICS member countries granted partner status to 13 new nations, including Muslim-majority countries like Algeria, Malaysia, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Nigeria, Turkey, and Uzbekistan. Although Pakistan applied for membership, it was not given partner status.
Pakistan does not meet the BRICS standards of emerging economies and significant markets, and its inclusion could impact the group’s effectiveness due to political tensions with India.
Delhi Developer Buys JIOHOTSTAR.COM Domain, Demands ₹1 Crore from Reliance
A Delhi-based app developer purchased the domain JIOHOTSTAR.COM and is demanding ₹1 crore from Reliance to sell it. The developer claims he needs the amount for an EMBA course at Cambridge University. Jio rejected the demand and plans to take legal action.

Stalemate Over Seat Sharing Among Maharashtra’s MVA Alliance Partners
