A scavenger was injured in an explosion that occurred in central Kolkata on Saturday. According to a police officer, the blast happened while the scavenger was standing near a plastic bag at the intersection of Blochman Street and SN Banerjee Road. The injured individual has been identified as 58-year-old Bapi Das, who lives on a pavement adjacent to SN Banerjee Road and works as a scavenger.

The officer reported that Bapi Das sustained injuries to his right wrist and is currently receiving treatment at the Nil Ratan Sircar Medical College and Hospital. Following the explosion, the area was cordoned off, and a bomb disposal squad arrived at the scene. The squad examined the bag and the surrounding area for further investigation.
