In the ongoing Badlapur encounter case, advocate Amit Katarnavare has raised significant questions regarding the police’s account of the events surrounding Akshay Shinde. According to Katarnavare, there are critical inconsistencies that undermine the police’s claims.
“Before the encounter, Akshay Shinde met with his parents and requested ₹400-500 for the jail canteen. He also discussed the possibility of bail with them. This indicates that he was actively seeking justice,” Katarnavare stated. He emphasized that if Shinde was indeed asking for money for the canteen, it suggests he was prepared to go to jail, contradicting the police narrative that he fired shots to escape.
Furthermore, the Bombay High Court has expressed skepticism regarding the police’s description of the encounter, specifically questioning the circumstances surrounding the alleged point-blank shooting of Shinde. This has raised eyebrows about the legitimacy of the police’s actions during the incident.
As the legal proceedings unfold, Katarnavare’s assertions highlight potential gaps in the prosecution’s case, calling into question the actions taken by law enforcement in the encounter. The outcome of this case could have significant implications for both the judicial system and public perception of police conduct in similar situations.
