Case Against SP Leader for Alleged Rape and Blackmail in Uttar Pradesh

Mau, UP: A local leader of the Samajwadi Party (SP) has been booked for allegedly raping an 18-year-old woman multiple times and threatening her in Uttar Pradesh’s Mau district. The accused, Virendra Pal, who is also an advocate, is currently on the run, with police efforts underway to apprehend him.

According to Anil Kumar Singh, Station House Officer (SHO) of Kotwali Nagar police station, the woman claims that Virendra Pal raped her repeatedly over the past year. The complainant, who had assisted Pal with his legal work, alleges that he lured her into his car at a secluded spot, drugged her drink with sedatives, and raped her.

Virendra Pal is accused of filming the assaults and using the videos to blackmail the woman, extorting Rs 4 lakh from her. She also alleged that Pal assaulted her physically and threatened to kill her during a confrontation on September 6, when she sought to retrieve her vehicle.

The FIR against Virendra Pal, lodged on September 7, includes charges under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including those related to voluntarily causing hurt, criminal intimidation, intentional insult to provoke a breach of peace, causing hurt by means of poison, and rape.

The police are actively searching for Virendra Pal and pursuing legal action as per the allegations.
