New Delhi: In a tragic incident in the early hours of Thursday, Unani doctor Javed Akhtar was shot dead inside a nursing home in southeast Delhi’s Kalindi Kunj area. The police have launched an investigation into the case, suspecting that the attackers were juveniles.
According to authorities, two boys, approximately 16 years old, entered Nima Hospital around 1:00 AM seeking treatment for a dressing. One of the boys had visited the clinic the day before due to a bandaged toe. After receiving care, the suspects entered Dr. Akhtar’s cabin and shot him at around 1:45 AM.
Night staff members Gajala Parveen and Mohammad Kamil rushed to the scene after hearing the gunshot and found Dr. Akhtar slumped in his chair, bleeding from a head wound. The police believe this was a targeted attack, as the shooting appeared to be unprovoked and possibly planned.
CCTV footage from the hospital’s reception and other key areas is being reviewed to gather more details on the suspects and their movements leading up to the crime.
