Hyderabad Police Rescue Student from 20-Day Captivity and Assault by Online Friend

HYDERABAD: A student from Bhainsa, Telangana, who had been held captive in a Hyderabad hotel for 20 days and subjected to repeated sexual assault by an Instagram acquaintance, has been rescued by SHE Teams Hyderabad.

The SHE Teams responded swiftly after the victim managed to send her location to her parents via WhatsApp. The distressed parents alerted authorities, and SHE Teams promptly located and rescued the student from a hotel room in Narayanguda.

According to reports, the victim had been coerced by her Instagram friend to travel to Hyderabad, where she was subsequently confined and assaulted. The complaint from her parents led to a rapid response from SHE Teams, who tracked her location and executed a successful rescue operation.

The police have filed a case against the perpetrator under sections 64 (2) (m), 127 (4), and 316 (2) of the BNS Act at Narayanaguda Police Station, addressing charges of repeated rape and wrongful confinement.

In a separate incident, SHE Teams acted on a complaint received via WhatsApp from a student at a prominent culinary academy in Hyderabad. The student reported persistent harassment from classmates, including inappropriate remarks and gestures. Following a detailed investigation, a criminal case was registered at Panjagutta Police Station under section 79 r/w 3(5) of the BNS Act.

SHE Teams have not only pursued legal action but also issued a formal warning to the college administration, urging them to implement measures to safeguard students from harassment.
