HYDERABAD: A student from Bhainsa, Telangana, who was held captive in a Hyderabad hotel for 20 days and subjected to repeated sexual assault by a friend she met on Instagram, has been rescued by local authorities.
The student’s ordeal came to light when she managed to send her location to her parents via WhatsApp. The SHE Teams Hyderabad, a specialized unit within the Telangana Police, promptly acted upon receiving the distress call from the student’s parents. They were informed that the victim had been coerced and threatened by her Instagram friend, who had lured her to Hyderabad under false pretenses.
The SHE Teams quickly located the student in a hotel room in Narayanaguda. Within a short span of time, they successfully rescued her. According to police reports, a case has been filed against the accused under sections 64 (2) (m), 127 (4), and 316 (2) of BNS for the repeated sexual assault and wrongful confinement of the victim.
In a separate incident, SHE Teams addressed a complaint from a student at a prestigious culinary academy in Hyderabad. The student reported ongoing harassment by classmates, including teasing, inappropriate gestures, and vulgar comments. Following a comprehensive investigation, a criminal case was filed at Panjagutta Police Station under section 79 r/w 3(5) of BNS.
In addition to legal actions, SHE Teams have issued a strong warning to the college administration, urging them to implement preventive measures to safeguard students.
