HYDRAA Commissioner Assures No Demolition of Occupied Houses in FTL or Buffer Zones

Hyderabad: Addressing public concerns, A.V. Ranganath, the commissioner of HYDRAA, assured on Sunday that occupied houses will not be demolished, even if they are located in the full tank level (FTL) or buffer zones of lakes.

Ranganath clarified that the demolition drive would target only under-construction buildings situated in these zones. “If any property buyers have doubts about whether their property falls within the FTL or buffer zones, they can verify this on the HMDA lakes section of our website or approach us directly for clarification,” he said.

He emphasized that the agency is committed to ensuring that no occupied residential properties will be affected. “We urge residents to avoid purchasing any property that is located within the FTL or buffer zones of any lake,” Ranganath added.

The commissioner explained that recent demolitions were limited to under-construction buildings at Kathwa Cheruvu in Mallampet, commercial establishments at Sunnam Cheruvu, and compound walls at Ameenpur. He reassured the public that the government agency will not render anyone homeless and remains committed to managing the situation responsibly.
