Bengaluru: Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara has dismissed speculation about a potential change in the Chief Minister’s position. Despite some Congress leaders expressing their desire for the role, Parameshwara affirmed that there is no consideration of changing the Chief Minister at this time.
As Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s petition regarding his prosecution in the MUDA site allotment case is underway, discussions about possible leadership changes have emerged. However, Parameshwara emphasized that such discussions are premature.
“There is no question of changing the Chief Minister right now,” Parameshwara stated. He noted that while some leaders are expressing their capabilities for the role, it is not a current issue.
Congress leaders Manjunath Bhandary and Dinesh Gooligowda have recently urged AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge to quell speculation about the Chief Minister’s tenure. Parameshwara added that discussions about the CM post are unnecessary as the current administration is functioning smoothly.
Amidst these developments, names like Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, Parameshwara, and Minister Satish Jarkiholi are being considered as potential contenders for the role should a change occur. However, Parameshwara downplayed the significance of these discussions, asserting that current visits to Delhi by party members are related to their respective departmental work.
The situation remains fluid, but for now, the focus appears to be on continuing the current administration rather than shifting leadership.
