A potentially dangerous situation was averted on Sunday morning when a goods train traveling from Kanpur to Prayagraj had to apply emergency brakes after the driver spotted an LPG cylinder on the tracks near Prempur Station in Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred at approximately 5:50 AM.

Railway police promptly responded to the scene, removing the cylinder from the tracks. Upon inspection, it was determined that the 5-liter cylinder was empty. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding its placement on the tracks.

This incident follows a previous event earlier this month when the Prayagraj-Bhiwani Kalindi Express collided with another LPG cylinder that had been placed on the tracks. Officials indicated that the cylinder was part of an apparent attempt to derail the train, prompting an immediate investigation involving senior railway officers and a forensics team.

Additionally, a Molotov cocktail was recovered in connection with the previous incident, raising concerns about potential sabotage. Earlier in August, a serious incident occurred when 22 coaches of the Varanasi-Ahmedabad Sabarmati Express derailed after colliding with an object described by the loco pilot as a boulder.

In a separate incident last week, a six-meter-long iron rod was found on the railway tracks between Bilaspur Road and Rudrapur city, leading to further allegations of sabotage. The railway authorities are taking these occurrences seriously and have called for increased vigilance in safeguarding railway operations. Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to ensure passenger safety.
