A major rail accident occurred in Bokaro, Jharkhand. A goods train passing near Tupkadih split into two parts, causing two wagons to derail. The incident took place between the Tupkadih and Rajabera section, disrupting train services on the route. As a result, train operations on the downline have been temporarily suspended.

A 15-member team from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Bokaro is currently at the scene. The RPF has stated that the exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined. Rescue and relief operations are underway.

Several trains have been affected by the derailment, including the Varanasi Vande Bharat Express. Train movement between Ranchi and Bokaro, as well as between Bokaro and Dhanbad, has been significantly disrupted.

The rail operations were halted for nearly five hours, resuming around 1 AM. The disruption not only affected the planned journeys of many passengers but also forced the rerouting of several trains to bypass the affected section.

Under the leadership of Regional Rail Manager Vineet Kumar, an investigation into the causes of the accident has been launched. Kumar reported that the incident occurred when a goods train, assigned to transport steel, split near kilometer marker 412/30. This led to the derailment of wagons numbered 15852 and 10948, causing severe damage to the downline. Kumar assured that normal rail services were restored by 1 AM, with the Hatia-Patna Express being the first train to depart following the accident.
