In a attempt to derail trains in Surat, Gujarat, unidentified individuals tampered with a railway track by removing fish plates and loosening several bolts. The incident occurred between the Kosamba and Kim railway stations, but a disaster was narrowly avoided due to the vigilance of a railway lineman who detected the damage in the early hours of the day.

According to Hitesh Joysar, Superintendent of Police (Surat rural), the miscreants removed two fish plates that secured the ends of the railway track and placed them on the parallel track. They also loosened around 40-50 bolts, further compromising the integrity of the track.

The sabotage attempt was uncovered when the lineman, who was inspecting the track around 5:30 AM, immediately alerted railway authorities. Deputy Superintendent of Police RR Sarvaiya confirmed that railway engineers quickly arrived at the scene, repaired the damage, and restored train movement.

Inspector PH Jadeja from Kim police station confirmed that the tampering was a deliberate attempt to derail a train, and praised the alertness of the railway staff for preventing a potential accident. Both the railway and local police have launched an investigation into the incident, and a case is being registered.

Authorities continue to probe the sabotage attempt, ensuring the safety of passengers remains a top priority.
