Three Minors Detained for Attempted Rape of 4-Year-Old Girl in Uttarakhand: Police

Rudrapur: Police have detained three boys for allegedly attempting to rape a four-year-old girl in a school in Udham Singh Nagar district, as reported by the girl’s mother. The incident occurred on September 3 at a primary school.

According to police reports, the mother dropped her daughter off at school around 8 AM, as usual. However, the young girl returned home crying just a few hours later. When questioned by her mother, the girl revealed that the boys had beaten her, and she was experiencing pain in her private parts.

Following this, the mother filed a complaint at the local police station, alleging that three students from the same school, aged between 6 and 11 years, had assaulted her daughter and attempted to rape her.

Superintendent of Police (City) Manoj Katyal confirmed that the incident is legally being treated as an attempted rape. “The six-year-old has been sent home, while the other two boys, aged 10 and 11.5, have been sent to a juvenile care center,” Katyal stated. A case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Meanwhile, the Uttarakhand education department has suspended the school principal and transferred the headmaster following the incident. District Basic Education Officer Harendra Mishra confirmed the action, citing negligence on the part of the school authorities.
