Train Sabotage Attempt Averted in Gujarat’s Surat District

Unidentified individuals attempted to sabotage a railway track in Gujarat’s Surat district by removing fish plates and loosening several bolts on Saturday, the police reported. The quick response from the railway staff prevented a potential disaster.

The sabotage was discovered on a section of track between Kosamba and Kim railway stations when a lineman inspecting the track noticed the tampering and immediately alerted railway authorities in the early hours of the morning.

According to Hitesh Joysar, Superintendent of Police, Surat (rural), the saboteurs removed two fish plates that connect two rails and placed them on a parallel track. Additionally, they loosened 40-50 bolts along the railway line, creating a dangerous situation.

Thanks to the vigilance of the lineman, who detected the tampering around 5:30 a.m., railway engineers arrived promptly to repair the damage, ensuring that train movement resumed without any accidents.

Inspector PH Jadeja from Kim police station confirmed that this was an attempt to derail the train, which could have resulted in a major catastrophe. The railway and local police have launched an investigation into the incident, and a case is being registered to apprehend the culprits.
