Israel Used US-Made Bombs in Airstrike That Killed Hezbollah Leader Nasrallah

A recent Israeli airstrike in Beirut, which resulted in the death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, involved the use of US-manufactured bombs. According to reports, these bombs were part of the Mark 84 series, weighing 900 kilograms each. These bunker-busters were deployed to target Hezbollah’s underground bunker, where Nasrallah was hiding.

Mark Kelly, chair of the Senate Armed Services Airland Subcommittee, confirmed that JDAMs (Joint Direct Attack Munitions), which convert unguided bombs into precision-guided weapons, were used in the operation. The US, a long-standing ally of Israel, has been supplying arms to the country, particularly since the Israel-Hamas conflict erupted after Hamas’s October 7 attack.

While the US provides military support, the White House disclosed that Israel did not inform them about the airstrike in advance, and President Joe Biden learned of the mission after Israeli aircraft were already in action.

Series of Commanders Killed in Recent Strikes

Nasrallah’s death is part of a broader escalation, as Israel has reportedly killed seven Hezbollah commanders in the last week, including senior figures like Nabil Kaouk and Ali Karaki. This wave of airstrikes continues to target Hezbollah infrastructure in Lebanon, claiming over 100 lives in a single day, according to Lebanon’s health ministry.
